We’re proud to announce the launch of the new Blueworld website. Blueworld is the flagship community in our stable of social networks. The site has received a fresh new layout and a host of new functionality. We’ve spent the last couple months working on getting Blueworld’s offering up to scratch with international players and have come up with some innovative concepts.
So what’s new on Blueworld
Activity Page
The activity page is your first destination after logging in - here you can see what activities the Blueworld community has been up to since your last visit. The page features a summary of all the videos and photos uploaded, who created or joined groups, status and mood updates from your friends, who befriended who and blogs posted since your last visit. The activity feed can be filtered to only show your friends activity or show the entire Blueworld network which shows all the member’s activity. This is a great tool to discover new friends through their content or just keep track of your existing friends. You can also filter the activity to just blogs, videos, albums, mood updates or view all.
Finally, you can also check if you have new friend requests, new messages, photo tag requests or group invitations.
Blueworld profiles
Your profile is your personal space on Blueworld. It features a summary of all your activity on the site such as videos and albums you have shared, what blogs you’ve written, the groups you participate in, who you’re friends with and upcoming events you plan to attend. It also shows your current mood, status updates, personal info and tastes. You can customize your profile to resemble yourself. We give you the ability to upload your own banner at the top of the site and change the profile colours. Lastly, you can also click and drag the boxes on your profile to arrange a unique look to set yourself apart from the crowd.
Moods and status updates is a new feature we have introduced which helps you share how you are feeling with your friends and the rest of the Blueworld community.
Albums sharing area
The albums and photos area features all the images uploaded by the Blueworld community. There you can share, rate and discuss photos, tag your friends and upload an unlimited amount of albums. When you upload albums they will appear there if marked for public viewing. You can mark your albums as private which will allow only your friends to view and won’t show up in the photo sharing area. In the albums area you can also discover which albums are the most popular and see who are the top photo publishers! We have also added an image slider top right witch will rotate through popular user images. You can use the image slider to browse through photos with back, forward and pause controls.
Video sharing area
The videos area allows you to share, rate and discuss videos with the community of members. The videos are categorized in content channels and tags so that you can filter videos according to what you feel like watching. When you upload videos they will appear in this section if marked for public viewing. You can however also mark your videos as private which will allow only your friends to view them and won’t show up in this video sharing area. This section also allows you to discover which videos are the most popular and see who are the top video producers!
Groups
The groups area features all groups created by the community. Here you can create or participate in groups and also check recent activity in your favourite groups. Each group is packed with photos, videos and discussions on a particular topic so you can stay updated on your interests, passions and hobbies.
Blogs
Blogs are like personal online diaries where you can share life experiences, opinions, jokes and anything else you wish communicate. When you write a blog post it will appear in this section if marked for public viewing. You can also mark your blog posts as private which will allow only your friends to view them. Here you can also discover some of the members blogs, see who are the top bloggers and start your own blog!
Content voting
All blogs, videos and photos published to Blueworld by the community can be voted up or down. If you find user content you like you can vote it up by clicking “Love it” or if you disapprove you can vote it down by clicking “Hate it”. This functionality leverages the wisdom of crowds theory allowing the community to determine the most popular content.
Photo tagging
When you upload photos to your Blueworld profile you can tag your friends in the pics or leave messages on other user’s photos. Tagging photos is available in the community albums area and on Blueworld clubbing coverage.
Bookmarking
Thousands of videos, photos and blogs are uploaded to Blueworld each day. With bookmarking we have created a way for you to save stuff you like for quick and easy future viewing. All the content you bookmark will show up in ‘My Bookmarks’ which can be found in the top navigation. On your bookmarks area you can see how many users also saved the same content you did.
